
The University of Bengkulu together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Indonesian House of Representatives held the “UNIB FUN RUN” sports event.
Bengkulu University (UNIB) successfully held a sporting event called the UNIB FUN RUN, involving hundreds of runners consisting of students and members of the general public on Sunday morning (9/11/2025). This event was the result of a collaboration between Bengkulu University, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), and Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, represented by Dr. drh. Hj. Dewi Coryati, M.Si.
The event was officially opened by the Deputy Assistant for Sports Culture and Organisation at Kemenpora, H. Khairil Adha, S. Pd, M.Si, symbolised by the raising of the starting flag by a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dr. Hj. Dewi Coryati. After that, the participants ran 3 kilometres around the main campus of Bengkulu University.
Before the race began, the participants did warm-up exercises together. They came from various universities in Bengkulu City, professional athletes, students, as well as educational staff and lecturers at Unib. The spirit of the event was further heightened by the presence of the Chair of the Bengkulu University Senate, Prof. Herawan Sauni, along with vice rectors, deans, heads of institutions at Bengkulu University, Bengkulu Governor’s Expert Staff, Sisardi, Head of the Bengkulu Quarantine Centre, Dr. Betty Fajarwati, and leaders of Bengkulu University’s partner banks who contributed as sponsors of the event.
After the flag was raised, hundreds of participants ran with high spirits. The committee prepared prizes for the three fastest runners, while other participants had the opportunity to win attractive door prizes such as electric bicycles, mountain bikes, televisions, and refrigerators.
The Chair of the Organising Committee, Dr. Dewi Purnama, S. Pi, M.Si, expressed her gratitude for the success of this event. ‘Alhamdulillah, the event was lively and ran smoothly. Thank you to all participants, sponsors, and MSME players who enlivened the event through the bazaar and free health check-up services,’ she said.
On the other hand, Unib Rector, Prof. Dr. Indra Cahyadinata, SP, M.Si, emphasised that this event is a tangible manifestation of Unib’s commitment to promoting healthy living and strengthening the campus’s image as an institution that has a positive impact on society.
