The Lahat Regency Government Initiates Collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, UNIB.
Amid the acceleration of regional development programs in every province of Indonesia, local government heads are implementing acceleration programs in their respective regions. One such initiative comes from the Lahat Regency Government, situated in the South Sumatra Province. To consolidate these development programs, the Lahat Regency Government has designed a human resources development program for Civil Servants (ASN) and the Lahat community through a long-term collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture of UNIB.
The initiation of this collaboration began with a visit from representatives of the Lahat Regency Government, represented by the Human Resources Development Agency (KKPSDM) team, to the Faculty of Agriculture at UNIB on Monday, May 6, 2024. The team, consisting of Ms Melly and Mr Hendri from KKPSDM Lahat District, was received directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of UNIB, Dr Indra Cahyadinata, SP., M.Si, accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, PhD, and the Coordinator of Cooperation at the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Nurmeiliasari, M.Sc.Agr, at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Agriculture.
During this visit, both initiating teams discussed the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and plans for signing the MoU document. The cooperation document outlines the agreement between both parties to cooperate in education, research, and community service. The Lahat Regency Government intends to send its Civil Servants for postgraduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels in programs managed by the Graduate Program of the Faculty of Agriculture of UNIB, funded by the Local Government and through self-funding.
In response to the Lahat Regency Government’s aspirations, the Dean expressed the readiness of the Faculty of Agriculture of UNIB to follow up on the agreement between the two parties. Subsequently, the Dean explained the undergraduate (S1), master’s (S2), and doctoral (S3) programs offered by the Faculty of Agriculture, available facilities, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff resources, as well as the face-to-face and hybrid teaching methods applied at the Faculty of Agriculture.
This collaboration initiative is expected to continue until the Implementation Agreement (IA) is drafted, which will serve as the technical guideline for implementing activities in the not-too-distant future. Considering the upcoming Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2024/2025, this is done. Thus, collaborative program activities such as new student registration and other academic activities can be promptly implemented, allowing Civil Servants from the Lahat Regency to commence their academic activities in the master’s program at the Faculty of Agriculture without significant hindrances.
