Send-off Ceremony for Marine Science Students’ Field Trip to Malaysia
On June 24, 2024, the send-off ceremony for Marine Science students from the University of Bengkulu, who will be participating in a field trip to Malaysia, took place. The event was held in the courtyard of the Marine Science Department building and was attended by students, lecturers, and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The event began at 9:00 AM with an opening speech from the Head of the Committee, Made Aditya. In his speech, Made Aditya expressed his gratitude for the support from lecturers and fellow students, which made the field trip to Malaysia possible.
Following this, the Coordinator of the PKL Course, Dr. Yar Johan, who also acted as the person in charge of the event, gave a speech. Dr. Yar Johan hoped the event would proceed smoothly and the students would maximize their learning experience at the University of Terengganu Malaysia and the National University of Malaysia. He also advised the students always to take care of their health and emphasized the importance of unity during the trip. In his closing remarks, Dr Yar Johan expressed his hope that this event would broaden the students’ horizons regarding Marine Science at foreign universities and encourage them to conduct research or internships at universities in Malaysia, such as UTM, given that the Marine Science Department already has an MoU/cooperation with UTM.
In his closing speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture appreciated the earlier execution of the field trip compared to previous activities. He hoped this event would encourage students to graduate on time, with the faculty’s target being at least 30% of students graduating on time. He also wished that this field trip would be a valuable experience and inspire students to pursue further studies abroad, aligning with the Faculty of Agriculture’s goal of increasing the number of students studying abroad each year.
On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture officially invited the students to participate in the field trip to Malaysia with the group and concluded the event in the morning.
