Faperta UNIB’s Prof. Dwi Wahyuni Ganefianti Receives Prestigious AATSEA Award for Education & Research

Prof. Dwi Wahyuni Ganefianti, a distinguished lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) at Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB), was honored with the AATSEA Award 2024 in the field of Education & Research during the 12th International Conference on Integration of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development (12th ICIST 2024), held from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Chanthaburi, Thailand. The award was presented by Prof. Dr. Kasem Soytong, President of the Association of Agricultural Technology in Southeast Asia (AATSEA), in recognition of Prof. Ganefianti’s significant contributions to the advancement of agricultural education and research.

Professor Ganefianti has conducted extensive research since 2004 in the breeding of Capsicum annuum L. to screen the resistant cultivars to Begomovirus and has registered 9 cultivars to the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Republic of Indonesia. Her involvement in the rice breeding program in the faculty has also resulted in 6 registered varieties.  She also actively conserves the local orchids around the Province of Bengkulu and has registered 1 variety of local orchids.   

During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Indra Cahyadinata, Dean of Faperta UNIB, personally congratulated Prof. Ganefianti on this prestigious achievement. He expressed his pride in her accomplishments and praised her dedication to the development of agricultural science at UNIB. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cahyadinata also highlighted how Prof. Ganefianti’s recognition will inspire further excellence and strengthen the Faculty’s reputation on the international stage.

The award reinforces the faculty’s commitment to fostering innovation in agricultural research and education, and it marks another milestone in Faperta UNIB’s continued efforts to enhance its global presence in the field of sustainable agriculture.
