
Coffee Book Discussion Event, Faculty of Agriculture.
The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (Faperta Unib) successfully held a Coffee Book Discussion Event in the Dean’s Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture. This activity thoroughly reviewed the book entitled “Cultivating Superior Robusta Coffee Clones of Bengkulu Province on Lowland Land,” written by Prof. Dr. Ir. Alnopri, M.S., and Ir. Bambang Gonggo Murcitro, M.S., and published by Insight Mediatama, Mojokerto, in 2024.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture conveyed the importance of building the brand image of the University of Bengkulu, especially the Faculty of Agriculture, as one of the pioneers of coffee progress in Bengkulu Province. He also emphasized the hope that in the future, the Faculty of Agriculture Unib can create coffee with a distinctive taste that is born from the research results of its academics. Furthermore, the Dean hopes that this book will provide real benefits for the academic community, local government, and the general public to encourage the development of the coffee sector in Bengkulu.
This event presented Ir. Darminsyah, M.Sc., who is the Acting Head of the Department of Agriculture, Food Crops, and Horticulture of Bengkulu Province, is the main speaker. The discussion was interesting and moderated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Marlin, M.Sc., who guided the event well. The speaker explained the importance of this book as a practical and theoretical guide in cultivating superior robusta coffee in the lowlands of Bengkulu, which has great potential in developing local specialty coffee. However, it needs to be enriched in terms of cultivation techniques, and further research is needed on coffee cultivation in lowlands with certain slopes.
This activity was attended by various parties, ranging from lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture, students, the Head of the Department of Agriculture of Central Bengkulu Regency, the Head of Bank Bengkulu, to local coffee business actors. The discussion was dynamic, with high enthusiasm from the participants towards the material discussed.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, reaffirmed its commitment to providing real contributions to the development of agriculture in Bengkulu, especially in supporting efforts to create superior coffee with a distinctive taste that can be the pride of the region.[]
