MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) with Akar Foundation

MARINE SCIENCE UNIB |  On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, the Marine Science Study Program of Bengkulu University and the Akar Foundation conducted a Memorandum of Agreement in the Meeting Room of the Marine Science Study Program, Bengkulu University. This effort to build an MoA is a form of consistency of the Marine Science Study Program in building Marine Scientific Nuances in all elements in the community.

Akar Foundation is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) domiciled in Bengkulu City. Akar Foundation offers the concept of Community Based Marine Management (CBMM) in the management of coastal and marine areas in Bengkulu Province. Where the issue to be raised is about Octopuses in Kaur County. This is very welcomed by the Marine Science Study Program through the Coordinator of the Marine Science Study Program, Mr. Ir. Zamdial, M.Si.

The future Cooperation Plan between the Marine Science Study Program of Bengkulu University and the Akar Foundation includes:

  1. Joint activities in the Field of Education are Field Work Practices (PKL) / Student internships, training, workshops, seminars, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) together;
  2. Joint activities in the Field of Research and Community Service
  3. Joint activities in the Field of Conservation (Data Collection of Ecological Conditions in Octopus Habitat)
  4. Expert / professional assistance for educational activities, research, community service, and conservation

Hopefully, this collaboration can build Marine Scientific Nuances in all elements of Bengkulu with Community Based Marine Management (CBMM)
