Khairul Adlani, a student of Agribusiness at the University of Bengkulu (UNIB), is representing Bengkulu Province in the Indonesian Maritime Ambassador School III competition organized by ASPEKSINDO in 2023.

The Association of Regional and Coastal Governments of Indonesia (ASPEKSINDO) held the Indonesian Maritime Ambassador School Competition (DMI) and the Maritime Ambassador School Quarantine (SDMI) competition. The maritime ambassadors, organized by the Association of Regional and Coastal Governments of Indonesia (ASPEKSINDO) in 2023, selected 100 finalists from across Indonesia for this event. After undergoing a thorough three-month selection process, starting from registration, submission of personal documents, essay writing, and creating videos showcasing their respective regions’ maritime potential, the competition progressed. Moreover, there was an online interview phase, which attracted hundreds of applications from all over Indonesia.

“There were several vlog themes to create, and I decided to focus on the maritime potential of Pulau Baai, specifically the development of the Port Area of Pulau Baai in the city of Bengkulu. This port area serves as the economic growth centre for the West Sumatra Coastal Region, particularly in the Bengkulu and surrounding areas. Pulau Baai offers visitors various tourist attractions, including ships, to enjoy. Also, Pulau Baai also features a mangrove forest that visitors can explore,” Khairul explained in his statement on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

He added that many people outside Bengkulu must be made aware of Pulau Baai, prompting his desire to introduce something new to the public. As a selected Maritime Ambassador participant, Khairul Adlani, majoring in Agribusiness at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (UNIB), officially participated in training, education, and activities organized by ASPEKSINDO at the DPR-RI Central Office in Jakarta.

Naturally, being a maritime ambassador participant is an honour and source of pride for the University of Bengkulu, especially for Khairul, who successfully reached the final selection stage. Khairul extends his gratitude to ASPEKSINDO for organizing this event. Through this event, as a representative of Generation Z from all over Indonesia, he had the opportunity to provide a more in-depth understanding of Indonesian maritime affairs.

In this moment of pride, I am grateful to Allah SWT and express my thanks for the support from my parents and the full support from the Bengkulu City Government, the Provincial Department of Maritime and Fisheries of Bengkulu, the Governor of Bengkulu, and the University of Bengkulu,” he concluded. Khairul also expressed his gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers and support throughout this journey.

“May I be able to contribute the best for Indonesia and the future of Bengkulu Province,” he hoped.
