
Joint Tree Planting Initiative : HIMA SYLVA in Celebration of the 31st Anniversary
Bengkulu, May 25, 2024—To celebrate its 31st anniversary, the Forestry Student Association (HIMA SYLVA), in collaboration with the Department of Forestry, organized a joint tree-planting event in and around the campus area. The event, held on [event date], was festive and enthusiastic, attended by lecturers, students, and alums of the Forestry Department.
In her opening remarks, Teni Nuryani, chairman of HIMA SYLVA, stated, “This activity is not only a celebration of our 31st anniversary but also a tangible contribution to environmental conservation. We hope that this tree planting will raise awareness of the importance of greening and the active role we all must play in protecting the Earth.”
The event began at 9:00 AM WIB with a speech from the Head of the Forestry Department, represented by the Department Secretary, Saprinurdin, S.Hut., M. ForstEcoSys. He emphasized the importance of synergy between students, lecturers, and the community in conservation efforts. “This tree planting is a small but meaningful step in addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. We hope this activity will inspire many to participate in conservation efforts,” he stated.
More than 150 participants took part in this event, planting around 200 trees of various species adapted to local environmental conditions. These trees are expected to provide long-term ecological benefits such as carbon absorption, habitat provision for wildlife, and improved air quality.
The event concluded with a group photo session. The spirit of togetherness and commitment to environmental preservation reflected in this event is likely to be maintained and developed in the future.
With the success of this tree-planting activity, HIMA SYLVA has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation, contributing positively to the community and the surrounding environment.
