Faculty of Agriculture UNIB Successfully Holds Eco-Enzyme Festival 2024 to Support MURI Record-Breaking

Bengkulu, August 12, 2024 – The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (UNIB) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental preservation by holding the Eco-Enzyme Festival 2024. This event was held lively, involving active participation from students, lecturers, and the surrounding community, and coincided with the momentum of Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2024. This event aims to increase environmental awareness among academics and the community and strengthen the synergy between lecturers and students in environmental preservation efforts.

The highlight of this festival was the breaking of the MURI Record for the pouring of eco-enzyme liquid by most universities in Indonesia. This activity was held simultaneously in various strategic locations, including the “Danau Inspirasi UNIB,” one of the campus icons and a gathering place for the academic community. Universitas Indonesia and 40 other universities also participated in this activity, making it one of the most significant environmental events ever held in Indonesia (ECO-ENZYME FESTIVAL 2024

This festival’s background is responding to increasingly pressing environmental issues, such as ecosystem damage and water pollution. Eco-enzyme was chosen as an environmentally friendly solution that can help reduce pollution and improve overall environmental quality. Pouring eco-enzyme into Danau Inspirasi UNIB symbolizes the university’s commitment to supporting environmental sustainability.

The event began at 16.00 WIB with an opening by MC Ririn Julita Sari, followed by remarks from the Head of the Forestry Department, Dr. Gunggung Senoaj, S.Hut., M.P., and the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture UNIB, Dr. Hesti Pujiwati, S.P., M.Si. Lecturers and students carried out the peak activity of pouring eco-enzyme, ending with a documentation session and closing of the event.

Dr. Hesti Pujiwati, SP., M.Sc., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, UNIB, said that this activity is not just a ceremonial event but is part of an ongoing effort to protect and preserve the environment. “We hope that this activity can inspire other universities to participate in a broader environmental movement,” she said. The 2024 Eco-Enzyme Festival is expected to become an annual agenda of the UNIB Faculty of Agriculture, with the hope that it can continue to campaign for an environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyle and positively impact the community and the surrounding environment.
